    OVP-Editions du VIDAL and SEMP (Société d’Editions Médico-pharmaceutiques), publisher since 1941 of pharmaceutical databases mainly intended for pharmacists (OFFISEMP, TAREX, INPEX, DATASEMP, THERA, INVENTOREX, INSCRIPTEX), merge to create VIDAL S.A., a company of the MediMedia France group.

    OVP joins the Havas group, the leading European group specialized in publishing and multimedia.

    MEDIAVIDAL is born.
    This CD-Rom containing all the information on the drug, compatible with Mac-PC, is offered to all health professionals and receives wide approval from them.

    OVP launches a drug dictionary for the general public: the “VIDAL du particulier”, which will become the “VIDAL de la famille” in 1998.

    The “VIDAL Dictionary” is officially promoted as a “reference work” in France: the “Alexandre Commission”, created by Simone VEIL (French Minister of Health), is responsible for revising and validating the monographs included in the VIDAL.

    The 37th edition of the “Dictionary of Pharmaceutical Specialties” becomes the “VIDAL Dictionary”.

    These files are gathered in the first “Dictionary of pharmaceutical specialties”. It includes 336 monographs and a pharmaceutical classification (131 laboratories present). Price of the book : 3 gold francs.
